CCECC Dismisses Reports of Isaka–Mwanza SGR Work Suspension
China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC) has firmly dismissed reports alleging that construction works on the Isaka–Mwanza section of the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) have been suspended due to financial constraints.
Speaking in response to circulating claims, CCECC officials described the reports as misleading and aimed at creating unnecessary public anxiety. The company confirmed that there are no funding challenges affecting the project and that construction activities are continuing as planned.
The Isaka–Mwanza SGR section is a critical component of Tanzania’s flagship railway project, designed to strengthen regional connectivity by linking the Port of Dar es Salaam to the Lake Victoria zone. Once completed, the railway is expected to significantly reduce transport costs, improve cargo efficiency, and enhance Tanzania’s role as a regional trade and logistics hub.
CCECC reiterated its commitment to timely delivery of the project, emphasizing that the SGR remains a cornerstone of Tanzania’s long-term infrastructure and economic transformation agenda. #SGRTanzania #Infrastructure #URTHeadlines #EconomicGrowth
